Winter in Orléans
While the streets are less crowded in winter, they become even emptier when the weather conditions deteriorate.
In recent years, it has rarely snowed in Orléans. But on the day this photo was taken, a light dusting of snow fell.
Photographing the cold and solitude

The thin layer of frost covering the boats. The cobblestones made slippery by the frost. The melting snow falling.
This wide-angle photo shows, in the foreground, some toues cabanées, boats characteristic of the Loire.
The vanishing lines draw the eye to the only human presence in this photograph: a lone figure walking away on the pier, following the course of the Loire.
