A solvent developer

I had already developed this film in Rodinal 1+25. I was somewhat disappointed with the results: shadows lacking detail, blown-out skies, and rather flat midtones.

Does Ilfosol 3, a solvent developer, produce different results with this budget-friendly Ilford film?

The grain is less visible and appears finer. Acutance remains good, and the tonal range is slightly less flat.

A decent film, nothing more

Ilford Pan 100 does produce usable images. However, out of the three rolls I shot, I found it more difficult to achieve satisfying results compared to other films (such as Rollei RPX 25, RPX 100, and others).

It is hard to get away from the somewhat flat rendering of this film, especially with overexposed photographs.

I believe careful exposure (which I did not always achieve) and precise development are necessary to obtain better, less flat images.

My impression is that Ilford Pan 100 has a much narrower margin for error than other traditional emulsions.

Cheaper, but also less capable

I have only shot three rolls of Ilford Pan 100, but based on various reviews I’ve read, its main advantage is its price. Others also point out that the images can appear flat.
