A compact 35mm camera
The Pentax ME Super is, in a way, the culmination of the idea of the compact SLR. Indeed, with less than 500 grams on the scale you won’t have to worry about putting it in your bag.
Willy Ronis, former user of compact Foca retractable lens rangefinders, will not be mistaken in adopting the so compact ME Super as its successor.

From left to right: Nikkormat FT, Foca PF2, Pentax ME Super, Pentacon Six (you can find articles about these cameras on the blog).

I added an adapter ring for M42 lenses to my ME Super.
An appreciable manual mode
It’s obviously a simple camera (no mirror lifting) with only a few exposure modes for automation, we won’t find a film advancement motor here and even less autofocus on this camera from the 80s.

The electronic shutter allows speeds of up to 2000th of a second and the film is easily inserted.
The ME super descends from the Pentax ME and brings a big plus for experienced photographers: you can now manually choose the shutter speeds using two small buttons.

A certain fragility however
With this size, the camera obviously does not have the robustness of a Nikkormat. You can also see in the photos that my copy has suffered a little.
But 40 years after its manufacture, it continues to work and remains pleasant to use: the viewfinder is clear and the device is easy to handle.
