These two trees growing side by side on the banks of the Canal d’Orléans have always attracted me.
I have tried to photograph them many times. But never managed to get an image that satisfied me: either the tree did not stand out from the background or the perspective was wrong.
Some of my various attempts:

…And then came the fog
The mist covers the background with a white veil and separates the two trees from the background.
Without it, the two trees would be lost in the background.
In addition to giving the photograph a dreamlike look, the mist is what makes the composition of this picture viable.

The composition of the image is symmetrical. There is the reflection in the Loire, where the veil of mist appears less, and the “real” view, hazy, where the elements gradually fade into the mist.
Photographing what will no longer be

A week after this photo was taken, the tree was cut down.
This photograph is therefore the result of luck and perseverance.
